My journey into race coaching
My passion for racing began early, leading me from racer to instructor and then to race coach at just 16 years old. I honed my skills as an assistant coach with RYA Scotland before progressing to become a national squad coach. My experience also includes heading up the open training program and specialising in transition development, shaping the next generation of sailing talent. This journey has given me a deep understanding of what it takes to succeed on the water.
Our unique coaching approach
At JC Race Coaching, the approach is both holistic and athlete-centred. I believe in developing the whole sailor, not just their technical skills. This means focusing on physical conditioning, mental resilience, strategic thinking, and personal growth. By understanding each athlete's individual needs and goals, I tailor my coaching to ensure they not only improve their performance but also develop a lifelong love for sailing.
Achieving incredible results together
The hard work and dedication of the JC Race Coaching squad have led to some truly remarkable achievements. After just one year, we proudly saw three boats at the Youth Nationals and the 29er Nationals, with one even heading to the Worlds! I have also had the privilege of coaching boats to multiple podium finishes at the highest level of UK RS Feva sailing. These successes are a testament to the commitment and talent of the athletes I work with.

Lead coach for Scotland’s national RS Feva pathway, delivering open training, pre-event training weekends and regatta support across the UK.
RS Feva Nationals Regatta Fleet Head Coach
Head coach for the regatta fleet at the 2025 RS Feva National Championships, one of the largest youth sailing events in the UK.
Private 29er Coach
Founder and head coach of a performance 29er squad, with two boats attending Youth Nationals and 29er Nationals and one boat qualifying for the 29er World Championships in the first year together.
